Hydrocarbon field development management is a multi-factor and labor-consuming process intended for optimization of decisions on effective object development in complex geological conditions, from global to local tasks. During the field life it is required to solve problems of generation of additional development strategy and day-to-day oil production improvement.
Targeted and efficient process of development management is hindered without the application of state-of-the-art technologies, including permanent development model and updatable project base, up-to-date considering all available factors as of specific time.
In drilling development wells we deal with a rather short (judging by petroleum industry scope) cycle, which includes selection and justification of target zones, wellbore steering and model updating by drilling data.
Expedient application of state-of-the-art digital models in development drilling at the stages from target zone selection to drilling data analysis and model updating (seismogeological, geological and simulation) proved its efficiency for wells of the Zapadno-Noyabrskoye and Yuzhno-Noyabrskoye fields, in which drilling design and support Panterra Group professionals participated.
Panterra Group has successful experience in higher mature field development efficiency, including for the fields owned by CEN GEO Holding, based on the use of state-of-the-art technical and technological solutions in workover along with building a correct simulation model, i.e. for the assets with high water cut. Correspondingly, operations at high-water cut field require focus well technical condition analysis based on comprehensive study of all available well tests.
In preparation of new fields for commercial development, priority is given to assessment of geological and technological uncertainties and risks, and, thus, related possible ranges of reserves and production volumes.

Kinematic interpretation of seismic data and detailed stratigraphic well stratification allows for building an integrated 3D structure model with faults of various types, salt domes and other complex objects, surfaces of datum and secondary reflectors. A detailed structural model is a basis for further buildings.
Balanced approach to selection of algorithms and tools for seismic data interpretation in specific sedimentation conditions yields significant geological results. Such methodological approach of Panterra Group provides solid ground for further work cycles, geological and simulation modeling.
3D geological model is the key tool for evaluation and localization of in-place hydrocarbons and services a basis for flow modeling and well design.
Fracture network is crucial for majority of carbonate and unconventional reservoirs. Panterra Group professionals forecast highly fractured zones through integration of special seismic data processing (anisotropy analysis, scattered component analysis, geometric attribute analysis) and log data (imagers, cross-dipole sonic imaging). In turn, it allows for creation of natural fracture model required for building reliable geological and simulation models to make effective decisions on hydrocarbon field development.
The studies described above in combination with development history allow for creation of the most adequate 3D geological reservoir model, providing for higher consistency of field performance forecast for various scenarios of subsequent and further development.
In case of sufficient input geological and geophysical, and geochemical data (geochemistry, geophysics, lithology, stratigraphy, etc.), it is possible to create a basin model of oil and gas system. A basin modeling project includes numerical modeling of geological processes (sedimentation, compaction, thermal conditions, hydrocarbon generation, migration and accumulation) describing evolution of basin hydrocarbon system, and determination of laws of their change.
Basin modeling tool makes it possible to mathematically justify the probability of charging traps with fluid. Meanwhile, resulted calculation data minimizes the effect of subjective estimates on economic analysis of prospecting operations, making it possible to assess the probability of geological success of discovery. Work results are estimation of geological resources considering geological risks, illustrated with maps of prospective objects and geological risks.

- Audit of geological objects
- Asset assessment (including risk and uncertainty assessment, probabilistic analysis of Р10, Р50, Р90, estimation in accordance with SPE-PRMS definitions)
- Supervision of seismogeological surveys and seismogeological support of field development
Oil and gas assets are high-demand investment objects, however, any commercial projects are related to risks, which are to be timely identified and assessed at the stage of investment decision. Thus, assessed risks and uncertainties can be considered as an integral part of increase in forecast adequacy of project’s economic efficiency at pre-investment stage.
Frequently asked questions from subsurface users and investors dealing with oil and gas assets:
- How much oil and gas is in the field?
- What rates are expected?
- – What will be the field life?
No doubt, these questions can be adequately answered with the use of high-quality multi-scenario geological and simulation model, providing for probabilistic assessment of hydrocarbon volumes, production forecast and field life. Comprehensive analysis of total geological and geophysical, and field data package can provide a more prompt optional response on these questions.
For our clients we render services for reserve estimation both in accordance with the Russian (including assessment of risks, uncertainties and probability of geological success, probabilistic assessment of Р10, Р50, Р90), and the SPE-PRMS definitions.
Panterra Group performs independent audit of oil and gas reserves in accordance with standards of Petroleum Resources Management System (PRMS). Evaluation and estimation of reserves is performed by categories Proved, Probable and Possible in accordance with the PRMS guidelines; economic assessment of oil and gas fields with assessment of main costs for services, capital expenses, operating expenses, prices of crude oil and the RF tax and legislation system. Reserve reports are prepared in accordance with the PRMS requirements both in English, and Russian.
